We offer scholarships to students of Texas A&M University that are from Southern Nevada. We provide multiple scholarships each year, of varying amounts depending on club donations.

CURRENT RECIPIENTS

The Las Vegas A&M Club is proud to announce that we have awarded scholarships to the following Southern Nevada students attending Texas A&M University:

TAYLOR LAUTEN ‘18 : Taylor has been awarded the Dr. David R. Shields, PE, 76 Scholarship. She has continued her outstanding academic achievement in her third year of a rigorous curriculum in Chemical Engineering. She also participates in Class Councils, which promotes Aggie traditions and organizes campus events such as Maroon Out, Ring Dance and Elephant Walk. Taylor is an extraordinarily well-rounded person, who is dedicated to her studies and community service, while working part-time and enjoying activities with family and friends.

DALLIN NIELSON ‘18 : Dallin is the recipient of the Clay Carson 85 Scholarship. He is an honor student majoring in Nuclear Engineering, pursuing his dream of becoming a researcher in the field of nuclear medicine. In addition to his studies, Dallin works part-time at the Fuel Cycles and Materials Laboratory on campus. He is also a leader in his church, acting as chair of the service committee. Dallin honors the Spirit of Aggieland in all his endeavors and carries it with him to share with others.

MIKO GRIFFIN ‘19 : Miko is the recipient of the Clay Carson '85 Scholarship. Miko was an honor graduate of Coronado High School in Henderson where he was active in student government and various service organizations. He has been busy his first semester in College Station with Fish activities and studying General Engineering. The Las Vegas A&M Club met Miko and his family at the last regular season game watch this year. We welcome Miko and his family to the Aggie family.

CONNER GRIMES ‘16 : Conner has been awarded the Dr. Michael Coy '96 Scholarship for a third time. He continues his studies in Kinesiology while adding Sociology as a declared major. Conner has advanced through various leadership roles in the Corps of Cadets, demonstrating excellence as a keeper of the Aggie Spirit. The Las Vegas A&M Club members are proud to have Conner represent us on campus, and we look forward to seeing him on his next trip home.

MARGARET E. "MAGGIE" BOYD ‘18 : Maggie is the recipient of the Dr. David R. Shields, PE, Scholarship for Spring 2015. She was an honor graduate of Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas and is majoring in Sports Management. Maggie has been very busy this past semester with Fish activities, community service, and as a pledge of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is a nationally ranked equestrian and an accomplished photographer. Maggie is a 6th generation Texan. The LVAMC is proud to have her representing us back home in Aggieland.

CONNER GRIMES ‘16 : Conner has been awarded the Dr. Michael Coy Scholarship for a second time this time for Spring 2015. He has been successfully advancing his study of Kinesiology and remains active in the Corps of Cadets. Conner asked to pass on to the LVAMC members his gratitude and assurance that our support is contributing to a world-class education. In return, we are pleased that Conner continues to represent us as a scholar and devoted keeper of the Aggie Spirit.

TAYLOR LAUTEN ‘18 : Taylor has been awarded the Tim & Tatiana Dudek Scholarship for Spring 2015. She was an honor graduate of Coronado High School in Henderson, and is applying her excellent credentials in math and science to her college major in Chemical Engineering. Taylor has been a very active Fish, making new friends and fully participating in the campus experience. The LVAMC welcomes Taylor to the Aggie family.

CONNER GRIMES ‘16 : Conner is the recipient of the Dr. Michael Coy Scholarship for spring 2014. After three semesters at A&M's Galveston campus, he transferred to College Station this semester. Conner is majoring in Kinesiology and is active in student government and various honor and service societies on campus. He is both proud and humble when describing the privilege of being in the Corps of Cadets. The LVAMC is pleased to recognize Conner as an exceptional keeper of the Aggie Spirit.

KATHRYN BLAINE ‘14 : Kathryn has been awarded the Tim & Tatiana Dudek Scholarship for spring 2014. She is majoring in Business Management while staying active on campus and in the community, including being an MSC Hospitality Team Leader and a track coach for middle school students. RYAN HILL ‘17 : Ryan is a graduate of Bishop Gorman High School here in Las Vegas and is the recipient of the Clay Carson Scholarship for spring 2014. His outstanding academic credentials in high school math and science have prepared Ryan well for his college major in Physics. He thoroughly enjoyed being a Fish this past fall, making new friends in Aggieland. Ryan is looking forward to meeting the LVAMC members on his next trip home.

MARY ROMEO ‘12 : Mary, a five-time LVAMC scholarship winner, is the recipient of the Tim & Tatiana Dudek scholarship for Fall 2012. She is majoring in Construction Science with a minor in Business, and made the Dean's list for Spring 2011. Mary has been extremely active in various A&M organizations, including being the chair for MSC Hospitality and a Fish Camp Counselor. This Fall was Mary's last semester at A&M, and she is now working for a small firm in Austin. We wish her the best for what we know will be a very bright future.

DALLIN NIELSEN ‘16 : Dallin has been awarded the LVAMC Dr. Michael Coy Spring 2013 scholarship. He was a Fish this past fall and is studying nuclear engineering. Dallin was valedictorian of Foothill High School here in Las Vegas, participating on the Varsity Quiz Team and Marching Band, as well as being active with his church. We wish Dallin success with his coursework as well as all the other aspects of college-life in Aggieland.

ANDREW BLAINE ‘16 : Andrew, a 2012 graduate of Northwest Career & Tech Academy, has been awarded the LVAMC Clay Carson Spring 2013 Scholarship. Andrew's sister Katherine is a current student. His grandfather (Dayton ‘51) and both of his parents are former students (James ‘85 and Sarah ‘86) and are past officers of the LVAMC. Andrew was a member of NHS and his school's track & field and cross-country teams, and is studying political science at A&M. We wish Andrew success at A&M.

JOSHUA LITT ‘14 :  Joshua, a graduate of Bishop Gorman High School, is the recipient of our Spring 2012 Las Vegas A&M Club Scholarship. Josh received a BS in Geology from the University of Washington, where he also worked as a seismic analyst, and will pursue a graduate degree in Hydrologic Sciences at A&M.

SCOTT MORRIS ‘14 : Scott is the recipient of the Dr. Michael Coy scholarship for Fall 2011. He is beginning his sophomore year at A&M, and is a member of The Corps of Cadets. Scott is majoring in Nuclear Engineering, and in addition to his activities with The Corps, he belongs to the American Nuclear Society and is active in the Boy Scouts of America as an adult member.

CARRINGTON GILBERT ‘12 :  Carrington is the recipient of our Las Vegas A&M Club Fall 2011 scholarship. Carrington, a senior studying Telecommunications Media, is the daughter of Tammy and O'Neill Gilbert (both ‘88). She has been a part of CARPOOL, E.X.C.E.L., was a Fish Camp counselor, and was Maroon Out Head Director from 2009-2010.

MARY ROMEO ‘12 :  Mary is the recipient of our Spring 2011 Las Vegas A&M Club Scholarship. A graduate of Coronado High School in Henderson, NV, Mary is currently majoring in Construction Science. She made the Dean’s list for the College of Architecture last year, earning a 4.0 GPA in the Fall of 2009. She is also the chair of MSC Hospitality. Mary is a three-time LVAMC Scholarship recipient.

ALEXIS GROTHE ‘12 :  Alexis is the recipient of our Fall 2010 Dr. Michael Coy ‘96 Scholarship. She graduated from Boulder City High School and then attended Blinn College before entering Texas A&M. Alexis has overcome some tough obstacles to get to TAMU, and we are so proud and thrilled she is finally an Aggie! She is majoring in Communications, with a minor in Business.

KATHRYN BLAINE ‘14 :  Kathryn is the recipient of our Fall 2010 Las Vegas A&M Club Scholarship. Kathryn graduated from Shadow Ridge High School and will be a Fish this year at A&M. Her parents are both Former Students. Kathryn was active in a number of activities in high school including National Honor Society, and will major in Biology at A&M.

MARY ROMEO ‘12 :  Mary is the recipient of our Spring 2010 Las Vegas A&M Club Scholarship. A graduate of Coronado High School in Henderson, NV, Mary is currently dual majoring in Construction Science and International Commerce. She hopes to eventually work in international project management. Mary will be an Assistant Director for the Freshman In Service and Hosting (FISH) organization this year. Mary also received the Danny Rakestraw ’86 Scholarship through our club in the fall of 2008.

JAEL SPENCER ‘10 : Jael is the recipient of our Fall 2009 Las Vegas A&M Club Scholarship. Jael is originally from the Beaumont, TX area but was displaced to Las Vegas after Hurricane Rita destroyed her family’s home. After graduating from Shadow Ridge High School in 2006, Jael pursued her dream of attending Texas A&M. She is studying Early Childhood Education, and hopes to teach second grade. Jael is involved in the TAMU Hip-Hop Society, Phi Delta Kappa, and Young Women of Distinction, among other organizations.

MATTHEW MICHALKA : Matthew is the recipient of our Spring 2009 Las Vegas A&M Club Scholarship. He is currently in his sophomore year at TAMU, majoring in Computer Science.  Matthew is a member of the Corp of Cadets and is active in conducting youth retreats through St. Mary’s in College Station.

MARY ROMEO ‘12 : Mary is the recipient of our Fall 2008 Danny Rakestraw ‘86 Scholarship.  Mary graduated with Honors from Coronado High School and is attending her first year at TAMU, majoring in International Relations.  She is involved on campus with the Student Council on National Affairs (SCONA), Freshman In Service and Hosting (FISH), and the Freshman Leadership Organization (FLO).
